The demons that plagued the Lesser Heaven have now wandered to the mortal plane. Concerned for the humans of Earth — whose souls vanished if a demon consumed them — the valkyrie Hillevi paid the dwarven clan Kearney, led by master craftsman Harlech, to build fighting machines capable of combating the threat. Over the course of ten years, twelve such machines were built by hand, and the Grand Valkyur was the seventh of these behemoths. This machine of war is a testament to dwarven engineering prowess.

Crafted from the finest materials in the Lesser Heaven, the CK-07 Grand Valkyur is built to take down whatever comes its way. Its power plant, the Seraphim Drive, is far in advance of any such technology available to humanity, having miniaturized a generator of 1400 MW with remarkable efficiency. This drive not only powers the various weapons, locomotion, and computer systems, but also allows it to fly and prevents it from collapsing under its own weight while in motion. Reinforced by the Seraphim Drive’s energy, its Endurium armor plating provides it with great protection from common Earth weapons as well as demonic strength, and its Valkyrian cotton tabard protects it and the pilot from most curses in addition to further reinforcing physical protection.

To avoid the adverse effects of ionizing radiation on civilians and allied military personnel, the Valkyur’s particle beams launch special “Angel Particles” which disrupt the molecular structure of a target and obliterate any loose subatomic particles. Its hand armament, the Valkyur Blade, works on the same principle, able to cut any material. A caseless 120mm rotary gauss rifle in its mouth provides an additional armament that uses less power but still packs a punch.

However, all this power comes at a cost. The high energy output means that the Grand Valkyur builds up excess heat very quickly. Thus, it must extend its wings to radiate away this heat, although the radiator wings on its head mitigate this somewhat. When radiating, temperatures around the mech can reach as high as 176° F (80° C), posing a significant danger to anyone and anything around it. Alternatively, the Grand Valkyur can build up this excess heat within itself to gather energy for the Thermal Destroyer, a blast of supercompressed, superheated air through one or both hands. However, carrying around excess heat runs the risk of burning the pilot alive and should generally be avoided. Finally, the mech can release all the energy in its capacitors in an uncontrolled fashion to self-destruct.

The Grand Valkyur sees its first combat usage in 2053 AD on Earth, when the superheroine Shoujo Crimson pilots it in battle against artificial demons created by Shadow Heart, the Empire of Japan’s top private military contractor. The mech trounces the demons with ease, making Shadow Heart fear that it is falling behind technologically.
