Every time I open Twitter, I see some variation of the following:
“Movies suck now because of reboots and wokeness!”
“There goes another beloved franchise.”
“Only anime is any good anymore — BASED JAPAN!”
“TV is for pussies; lift some weights and get strong and rich, pleb.”
I completely understand the feelings of hopelessness; an IP you enjoyed for years or even decades is transformed into a civics lecture that declares you a monster for not liking bad storytelling. Creatives of all kinds bow down to any woke activist who so much as glances in their direction. The stories themselves have to follow politically correct mandates. Every inch of the entertainment industry demands total submission to progressive narratives and nothing else.
The indisputable fact that film and television drive culture only deepens your sense of despair.
You wonder if there’s something — anything — you can do. Sure, you can avoid the cinema and cancel Netflix, but that can only do so much. Deep down, you want to replace the shows on those services, but you don’t think that’s possible.
You’re correct — right now, it’s not possible. Emphasis on right now.
But you can help change that.
Twitter user Logic Monkey (@logosimian) and I had a conversation about him turning his indie game-dev skills into cartoon-making skills. Shortly after, I realized that I had a lot of art and music assets left over from an indie game I made back in 2014. Realizing what a gold mine of content I had, I got to work.
The result is below. I present to you my directorial debut, Defeat the Witch!
